Sibelius's symphonies have a totally unique atmosphere that you won't find with any other composer, partly because of their Finnish perspective. Already in his First Symphony he demonstrated his originality: who had ever dared to start a symphony with a lonely duet of clarinet and timpani? Jimmy López Jimmy López is from Peru but sees himself as a cosmopolitan. In recent years he has achieved great success with his colourful music, in which different styles come together within a solid framework of classical composition techniques. In 2016, his First Symphony proved that he is a master of the great form. The four volumes correspond to the four books of the novel The Journeys of Persiles and Sigismunda by Cervantes, published just before his death in 1616. In the final part, repetitive patterns in percussion and brass lead to a grand finale.
